The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2 has given 40% of the total salary of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) Beneficiaries last October 14, 2022 at Bulwagan ng Mamamayan, San Andres, Santiago City.
It was led by DOLE representatives and the Local Government Unit of Santiago City through the Public Employment Service Office.
Attended by City Administrator, Engr. Paul Tan and City Mayor, Atty. Alyssa Sheena P. Tan said activity, Mayor Sheena expressed her sincere support for programs and economic assistance to students and citizens in the city through PESO. She also expressed her gratitude to DOLE for the continued support to LGU Santiago.
It can be recalled that recently, the beneficiaries also received the 60% counterpart of the LGU. Php 4,376.00 worth of the portion received from DOLE. This is just the first part of giving and there is still a 2nd batch that will receive the said benefit because there are a total of 357 SPES Beneficiaries in the City.
SPES is an employment bridging program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) every summer or Christmas vacation. Its purpose is to provide temporary work for “in need” students, out-of-school youths or OSYs, and those who have lost their jobs. The main purpose of SPES is to increase and help the income of the beneficiary’s family and to ensure that the student and OSY continue their studies.
